The Military Terms Dictionary is a continuously developed online academic reference resource focused on military history, organization, ranks, administrative structures, and document terminology in the period 1876–1918.
The dictionary consists of terms compiled during archival research, particularly in British military intelligence reports and other period sources. Each entry presents the English term together with its Ottoman or period equivalent, its modern Turkish equivalent, and, where necessary, an editor’s note.
The dictionary is continuously updated as new sources are identified. Term equivalents should be assessed together with the context and date of the relevant document.
